Walking the V Solidarity March Against Cancer has brought together a thousand people, coming from numerous points, they have traveled the path of Centenary Olive trees.
During the last four days of Easter, the region of the Alpujarra was again popular destination, thanks to the XXI Fair of Tourism, Crafts and Food, Made in the Alpujarra. The fair is annually held in Órgiva city and attract approximately 20,000 visitors. They come not only from the Alpujarras region and the province, but also of many other parts of Spain. The good weather during the four-day fair has also led to the success of affluence.

The Provincial Museum of the Alpujarra is open for visitors in the square de los Caños in Ugíjar (Granada province).
From Friday you can enjoy the ethnographic collection (loan by the family of José Antonio Jimenez Tovar), who will be awarded by the Medal of Merit of the Province of Granada for its collectionist work for decades.

The region of the Alpujarra was this weekend the protagonist of the XIII Crossing Resistance Granada La Costa.
In Spain there are about 1,200 Naqshbandi Sufis, a spiritual branch of the Muslim religion. There is a group in the Alpujarra and another near Caceres.
This fiesta is celebrated every year 15th of September in village Válor. Its how the local people remeber turbulent times of 16th century when last Moorish resistance finaly meet the Cristian forces.

This Saturday opens renovated irrigation canal near Canar, a village in the Alpujarras. The old canal, of medieval origin, was abandoned for 30 years.
With the help of 180 volunteers from different parts of Spain and other countries, as well as with the collaboration of the Community authorities, this canal will bring the water to the important oak vega of Cáñar.
This restoration project is part of the MEMOLA projects, coordinated by the University of Granada, which has been launched to analyze the cultural configuration of Mediterranean landscapes. The opening of the canal will be followed by a party with all volunteers and people from the neighboring village of Canar, who regained part of its heritage.
There is the new ferry line from Spanish port Motril to Melilla on African coast. The trip takes about 2.5h and you will travel with quick and modern ferry boat.
